What Is It?
Reiki (pronounced RAY-Key) is a method of natural healing based on the application of Universal Life Force (Rei) Energy (Ki). It is one of the more widely known forms of energy healing involving direct application of Chi (or Ki) for the purpose of strengthening, cleansing and balancing the client's energy system. Chi is the term used by the Chinese mystics for the underlying energy force making up the Universe.How Does It Heal?
In its simplest form using Reiki is simply the practitioner lightly placing their hands on the recipient with the intent of bringing healing, and willing for Reiki energy to flow. There is a set of hand positions traditionally taught which give good coverage over the recipient's entire body. If there is a specific area of concern the practitioner can keep his or her hands right there for as long as necessary. The Reiki energy knows where to go, and what to do once it gets there. The energy manages its own flow to and within the recipient. It draws through the healer exactly that amount of energy which the recipient needs. All this happens without direct conscious intervention by the healer. The healer's job is to get out of the way, to keep the healing space open, and to watch and listen for signs of what to do next.What Happens During A Session?
A Reiki healing is very simply performed. The practitioner places his or her hands very lightlty upon the person to be healed with the intent for healing to occur, and then the energy begins flowing. The client remains fully clothed at all times, and sits either in a reclining chair or lays on a massage table. The client remains awake and able to comment on any experiences during the healing.How Many Sessions Does It Take?
Depending upon the healing required, any number of sessions from one to six.How Does Distance Healing (also known as Remote Healing) Work?
To the world of energy there is no such thing as time or space. The world we see around us is only a small fragment of all that exists. Since there is no time and space to limit energy, Reiki can operate without regard to these limitations. A Reiki practitioner can bring healing to a recipient regardless of the distance between them.In doing remote healings the client is represented by a symbol drawn by the Reiki practitioner. Both client and practitioner decide on a time when the client can relax undisturbed for about an hour. This can be as the client is falling asleep. The practitioner focuses the healing intent on the symbol representing the client.
Can Reiki Be Used For Animals?
Yes! The life force energy runs through animals and plants as well as through us. Remote or distance healing is used with animals who won't or aren't likely to remain still for the full hour.What Else Can Reiki Be Used For?
Physicists are realizing that everything around us is made of energy. Remember: Reiki is about channeling energy. Therefore it stands to reason that Reiki can be applied to anything made of energy, i.e. anything in existance. For instance, it can be used on relationships between people. As with remote healings, the healer comes up with a way to symbolize the relationship, and then applies the energy to the symbol.What Does It Cost?
The cost for the first session is $160. Subsequent sessions are $70 for approximately one hour. Rates for distance healing are the same. Reduced rates are available for returning clients.How Successful Is It?
A Reiki session balances the energy in your body, and brings healing where necessary for the client's highest good. The client with a belief in this healing modality and the open mind to accept what may at first seem to be subtle changes and improvements will achieve success.Often if a client is very ill or has many physical challenges, I'll combine a special deep hypnosis session with Reiki. This very powerful combination of treatments elevates the mind to the superconscious level where enormous amounts of healing take place. While the client rests and heals during this part of hypnosis, I'll complete a Reiki session.
