Spiritual counseling involves helping clients develop a relationship with their Creator, however they envision that Creator. It is the most rewarding relationship of all!
Recognize yourself as a perfect extension of your Creator, who loves you beyond any description humans could possibly imagine; recogne your birthright as a co-creator to prosperity, peace, health, success and love. This relationship will never go sour: you'll never be betrayed, ignored, belittled, devalued or abandoned. You will always be: supported, comforted, cheered on, loved, provided for.
Once one REALLY understands this, opportunities in life blossom. It's a relationship that includes dialogue, humor, unconditional love, messages every day, tons of guidance -- and the more you get involved the closer you become. Imagine the day you
have a solid, open relationship with your Creator (who LONGS for one with you, believe me!) -- you can ask for guidance and get it immediately; you can ask for prosperity and get exactly what you ask for; you can appreciate even the tough times in your life for the
lessons they offer; you begin to see every single other person as a beloved extension of the Creator, too, and that we're really all ONE.
You learn to GIVE what it is you're looking to RECEIVE. If we all just included some service to others in our lives, every day would be a joy, troubles would be seen for the minor lessons they really are, and we'd get closer to living lives of total compassion and feeling fulfilled -- no more "is this it?"
We talk about prayer (the same thing as visualization, except with lots of gratitude attached to it), being an instrument of peace in your worlds, including with yourself, at home, in your community, and the world at large. It doesn't matter if the you're Christian, Jewish, Shinto, Baha'i, Muslim, Native American... it all comes down to
essentially the same things.
Sometimes when people start talking about religion or God, others get really nervous -- no one wants to be preached to or converted. In my counseling, I actually suggest that my clients keep their spirituality close and private. It's a very personal relationship.
Our Creator really takes care of us, and that's such an awesome, welcome relief: to know you'll always be exactly where you're supposed to be, even if it's uncomfortable, and that you'll get through it.
There are miracles every day, and before long you'll start to see them and live them and perform them, just by being alive. Your Creator (however you call him or her or it) wants you to come home, find your way, live a creative, beautiful life. I believe that's what's meant in the bible where it's written that we are made in God's image. We're gods too, we're also creators, and I believe our Creator wants us to create miracles and be joyful, happy, healthy loving people.
It's a really exciting journey. Keeping track of miracles unfolding in your daily life is enormously gratifying.
